Born in Hedding, NJ, he was a resident of the Columbus area all his life. Raised as a farmer, Bill started his own dairy farm, first in Columbus and then relocated to the Windy Knoll Farm in Jacobstown. After selling his dairy business in 1972, Bill began a 20-year career as a supervisor with the Farmers Home Administration and the Small Business Administration. During his retirement years he worked at the Manheim Auto Auction.

He was a Past Commodore of the Surf City Yacht Club, was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #28 F&AM, and a long-time member, deacon, and trustee of the Chesterfield Baptist Church.

Bill's family was most important to him. He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a very dear friend. He will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by his parents, William and Edna Wainwright, he is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Janet Wainwright (Longstreet); his three sons and daughters-in-law: Dale and Lynn Wainwright of Bristol, RI, Scott and Donna Wainwright of Reading, PA, and Mark and Diane Wainwright of Marlton, NJ; his sisters: Jean Bird of Wrightstown and Ann Boike of Southampton; six grandchildren: Lisa Shea and her husband Jonathan, Brian Wainwright and his wife Cara, and Karen, Brendan, Andrew, and Morgan Wainwright; and two great-grandchildren: Alexander Shea and Calvin Wainwright.
