William A. Schottman, Jr., 79, of Adelphia passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Born in and raised in the Bronx, he was a lifelong resident of New Milford and in his retirement, spent time in Montrose, PA and Edgewater, Fl. A US Army veteran serving with the 82 nd Airborne Division in the Berlin Brigade during the Berlin Air Lift, William worked as a carpenter for 20 years with Local Union No. 15 in Hackensack, retiring from Belle Meade Development. He later went on to have a 10-year career with the New York City Police Department working as a Property Protection Agent in the NY Subway Systems and was on duty during the September 11 th attack. William was actively involved with the VFW and the Freehold American Legion Monmouth Post 54.
Son of the late William A. Schottman, Sr.; he is survived by his mother, Catherine Burns; his three children and their spouses, Doreen Schottman Tillman and her husband John of Montrose, PA, James W. Schottman of Adelphia, NJ and Patrick A. Schottman and his wife MaryKate of Lemoore, CA; his grandsons, William, Samuel and James Schottman and Wyatt and Garrett Shaffery; his brother, Edward Schottman; two sisters, Catherine Schottman and Gloria Boccer; his life partner of several years, Maria Trainer and her family; his former wives and mothers of his children, Terry Bowers and RoseMary Schottman as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am on Friday, August 14 th at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown. Interment will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. A viewing will be held Thursday from 5-8pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown.
