Obituary

William "Bill" R. Rogers, 84, of Columbus, NJ, entered into God's loving embrace on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Samaritan Hospice in Mt. Holly, NJ surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Bill grew up in Trenton, NJ and graduated from Trenton Central High School. Bill was a veteran of the Korean War having proudly served his country as a sergeant in the U.S Army. He began working at Transamerica Delaval in Trenton as a draftsman and later earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA. He continued to work for Transamerica Delaval as a mechanical engineer for 42 years and loved every minute of it. During his career he traveled the world as his work assignments took him to many foreign countries including Scotland, France, Iran, Holland, and Singapore. Bill lived in Crosswicks, NJ for over 30 years and was very active in the community. He served on the Chesterfield Township Elementary School board for over 10 years, volunteered as a fire police with the Crosswicks Union Fire Company, volunteered with the Crosswicks Library, coached many of his children's sports, and volunteered with the Cub Scouts. He also attended the Crosswicks United Methodist Church and in later years the Presbyterian Church in Oak Island, North Carolina.

Upon his retirement from Transamerica Delaval, Bill and his wife Joan moved to Oak Island, NC and spent 16 wonderful years enjoying the Carolina beaches. He volunteered around the Caswell Dunes community and used his engineering skills to complete various projects for the homeowners association. He assisted with the maintenance of the community pools and was also a building inspector. He also enjoyed helping his wife host the monthly book club meetings. Bill and Joan moved back to New Jersey 5 years ago and resided in Columbus.

He was predeceased by his parents, William R. and Isabella (Wall) Rogers. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joan C. (Ozmon) Rogers, his son, Glenn W. Rogers of Crosswicks, NJ and granddaughter ReBecca J. Rogers also of Crosswicks, his daughter Amanda (Rogers) Parady and her husband Victor Parady of Hamilton, NJ, his brother Kenneth N. Rogers and his wife Jan of Minnetrista, MN, and his beloved granddog Bella Parady who visited him weekly. He is also survived by his brother-in-law John Ozmon and his wife Gladys of Oak Island, NC and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Wallace of Fox Chase Cancer Center who provided excellent care to Bill. They will be forever grateful to Dr. Wallace and his staff. In addition, the family extends their thanks to the amazing staff at Samaritan Hospice who so lovingly cared for Bill and his family during this very difficult time. And finally, a very special thank you to Dawn Cular, ReBecca's mom, who has been with us 24/7 supporting and loving us through these very emotional days and nights. We love you lots!
