William R. Huyler, 95, of Vineland, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. Born in Newark, he was raised in Kearny prior to moving to West Belmar where he resided for 56 years. A WWII Navy veteran, William served as a Radio Technician 3. He trained in Key West and was later stationed in both the US and Panama Canal. He worked in advertising for the Asbury Park Press for 40 years and was a member of the Shark River Yacht Club. William built sailboats and enjoyed being out on the water. He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed being with family.
Son of the late William P. and Sophie Schaller Huyler, he was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Wilgar Huyler and his sister, Ruth Toman. William is survived by three children, Robert Huyler of NC, Dennis and Darlene Huyler of Columbus, NJ and Nancy and husband Mark Burkhardt of NJ; six grandchildren, Christi Brady (Kevin), Shannon Strain, Dawn Huyler, Robert Huyler, Jr., Melisa Warren (Jim) and Mark Burkhardt, Jr.; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces.
Graveside service will be held 11 am on Tuesday, December 30th at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251,
