William A. Bohnert, 91, of Allentown, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. Born in Hoboken, he was a resident of Paramus, NJ for many years before moving to Allentown. A WWII Army veteran, William was employed at Westinghouse for 44 years as an engineer. He was active with the Boy Scouts, serving as Scout Master and enjoyed listening to Jazz and Big Band music as well as trips to Cape Cod.
William is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ethel Bohnert; three children and their spouses, William C. and Christine Bohnert of North Haledon, Louise and Jon Totton of Sammamish, WA and Stephen and Coleen Bohnert of Allenwood; his grandchildren, Christian and Lauren Bohnert, Erika and Ivan Mendez, Brendon and Nicole Bohnert, Samantha Totton, Dr. Katherine Bohnert and Stephen Bohnert as well as three great granddaughters, Emma, Julia and Sara.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9am on Thursday, July 8th at St. John's Church, 1282 Yardville Rd. Allentown. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. Arrangements under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
