William A. Black, 95, of Freehold Twp., passed away peacefully Thursday, August 29, 2013 at his home in Applewood Estates. Born in Chesterfield, he was a longtime Allentown area farmer and resident prior to moving to Freehold 10 years ago. After his retirement, Bill and his wife Phebe enjoyed spending their winters in Nobleton, Florida. For many years, he was an active member of the Ellisdale United Methodist Church, prior to joining the First Methodist Church of Freehold in 2008 when he married his second wife, Dorothy. Son of the late William A.N. and Grace Black, he was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Phebe G. Black and his son-in-law, Herbert Gower. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Jamison Black; his daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann Gower of Cream Ridge, Margery and Larry Reuter of Allentown, Anita and Robert Clayton of Vernal, UT and Kathleen and David Jones of Dunmore, WV; grandchildren, Janet Branco, Karen Hofrichter; Ron Lesnak, Rob Clayton, Hilary Dutson, Craig Stelle and Chris Stelle; 10 great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Biddle and Lillian Black of Langhorne, PA; 5 stepchildren, 12 step grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11am on Wednesday, September 4th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main Street, Allentown. Interment will follow in North Crosswicks Cemetery.
