Wesley M. McGowan, 90, died March 28th at his residence in Florida. Born in Morristown, N.J, he resided in Bordentown for over 45 years before moving to Bradenton in 1994. Wesley graduated from Ohio University with a BSC degree in 1942 and furthered his education at Rutgers University, the University of Buffalo and Rider College. He was an Army veteran of WW II serving with the Signal Corps in Europe and later worked for IONAC and Permutit Chemical Companies in several management positions. Wesley was Founder and President of Wes Mac Consulting, Ltd. in both Bordentown and Bradenton. He was a life long member of the Water Quality Association and the author of several books about water quality and terms and over 12 articles on water quality. He also was the author of Two Score Years and Ten, a history of the First Baptist Church of Bordentown.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Betty Jackman McGowan; a son and daughter-in-law, R. Daniel and Susan L. McGowan of West Columbia, SC; a sister, Margaret V. Shaw of Springfield, MA; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a step-daughter and her husband, Joanne and George Heiland of Sarasota, FL; a step son, Roger Jackman of Ft. Myers, FL and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy P. McGowan; three brothers Russell Alexander, Harold and James Edwin and a sister, Ruth McGowan Sharp.
Memorial service will be held Friday, June 11th at 11:00 A.M. from the First Baptist Church, Prince and Church Streets, Bordentown. Interment will be in the Bordentown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 200 Prince Street, Bordentown, N.J. 08505. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Peppler Funeral Home of Bordentown.
