Walter E. Dickerson, Jr., 87, of Brick, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Born in Lakewood, Walter (known as "Dick" to friends and family) was a 1958 graduate of Rutgers University. He retired after 38 years of service in the United States Air Force and New Jersey Air National Guard. Dick was a talented carpenter and worked with his father and brother for several years. He built his own motorboat when he was younger and loved sailing, fishing and motorboating along the Metedeconk River. He was also an avid photographer and enjoyed playing the saxophone. Dick was an active supporter of the United Service Organizations (USO) and was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Brick.
Son of the late Walter and Kathryn Dickerson, Dick is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Linda Dickerson; his sons, Walter Dickerson, III and his fiancée, Norma Castro and Steven Dickerson and his wife, Diane; his grandchildren, Kevin, Amanda, and Mya Dickerson; his siblings, Patricia and Ted Dreyer, Joan Conrad, and Ron and Elaine Dickerson as well as several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Sunday February 25th from 2-4pm and Monday February 26th from 11am to 12 noon at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. A Funeral Service beginning at 12 noon on Monday. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.
