Obituary

Virginia Alexander Chech, of Mercerville, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 surrounded by her family at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania (HUP) in Philadelphia. Born in Coney Island, NY, she was a resident of Mercerville for over 45 years. Ginny retired after 32 years of service from Rhodia, now Solvay. She was a long-time member and Deacon of the Allentown Presbyterian Church, where she partnered alongside her husband teaching Sunday School and coordinating the Allentown Crop Walk for many years. Additionally, she was very active with many of the Church's women's groups events. Ginny was kind, caring and had a personality and a smile that would light up any situation. To know her was to know that YOU were loved.

Daughter of the late Arthur and Katherine "Kitty" Alexander, she was predeceased in 2004 by her sister, Lori Alexander Hardigan. Ginny is survived by her husband of 26 years, Alan Chech; her nephews, Trevor, Andrew, and Ross Hardigan, and their father Dr. Kenneth Hardigan; her mother-in-law, Helen Chech; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Alberta Chech Bigger and Arlene and Mark Halsted; her nephew and niece, John and Kate Halsted; her childhood friend Eva Gribbin; her friends of over 50 years, Sara Jane and Jerry Kimmel, and their children Jamie, Stephanie, and Dana.

A gathering with family and friends in the sanctuary will be begin at 2 PM, with the service beginning at 3 PM on Sunday, January 28th at Allentown Presbyterian Church, 20 High St., Allentown. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Following the interment, everyone is invited to join the family in the church fellowship hall for a repast.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allentown Presbyterian Church, PO Box 122, Allentown, NJ 08501 to support the Women's Ministry which Ginny loved and where she served as a leader.
