Obituary

Vernon P. Rodgers, 91, a resident of the Masonic Villages at Burlington, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Born in Franklin, PA, he was raised in Oil City, PA before moving to Audubon, NJ in 1953.

Vern was a retired US Navy Captain and WWII Veteran with 40 years of service, both active and reserve. He was a retired Civilian Electrical Engineer for the US Navy at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. He was a graduate of the Pennsylvania State College (Penn State) and member of the South Jersey Alumni Association. Vern was a member and Past Commander of the Murray Trout American Legion Post #262 of Audubon. A member of the Audubon Parkside Lodge #218 F&AM, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, he recently celebrated his 70th anniversary as a Mason. He was also active in the Crescent Shrine. Vern was a Patron of the Audubon Eastern Star and a member of the Logan Memorial Presbyterian Church of Audubon.

Vern is predeceased by his parents Vernon and Clara Rodgers, his brother Clayton Rodgers and his beloved wife of 58 years, Agnes Rodgers. He is survived by his two daughters; Cheryl R. Bortz and Kathleen S. Stockdale (David), his two sons; Stephen F. Rodgers (Deborah) and Vernon G. Rodgers (Marie).

His grandchildren: Sara Bortz Wexler (Reginald), Jennifer Bortz Schneider (Brad), Zackary S. Stockdale (Elizabeth), Andrew D. Stockdale, Kelly Ann Rodgers, and Keith I., Ross M., and Alec B. Rodgers.

His Great Grandchildren: Samuel A. Wexler, Jacob A. Wexler, Sofie A. Schneider, Peter F. Stockdale, and Anastasia G. Stockdale.

His Sisters: Lois Hewston, Phyllis Jacoby (Wayne), and sister-in-law Jane Rodgers Maybray.

Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Monday, July 18 at the Masonic Village of Burlington Chapel, 902 Jacksonville Rd, Burlington, NJ 08016. Friends may call from 1pm until time of service at the Chapel. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Penn State Chapter of Southern New Jersey Fellner/Ungvarsky Scholarship Fund
