Obituary

Verna Bertrand, 92, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Masonic Home of NJ, in Burlington. Born in Prospertown, NJ, she resided in Bordentown, New Egypt, Florida and Columbus before the moving to the Masonic Home 5 years ago. Verna worked as a secretary for Princeton University and was an active member in the clubhouse when she resided in Homestead.

Wife of the late Ernest M. Bertrand, mother of the late Ernest M. Bertrand Jr. and sister of the late, Alvin Emley and Leila Newell; she is survived by her daughter Sandy and Robert Richey of Hamilton Square and a daughter-in-law, Virginia Holley of Hopewell; eight grandchildren, Susie Gaddy and her husband Mike, Vicki Swanhart, Barbara Jusino and her husband Dan, Robert Richey Jr., Dale Bertrand and his wife Holly, Steve Bertrand and his wife Linda, Chris Bertrand and his wife Cathy and Linda Mangino and her husband Joe; 23 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, Monday, March 8 at the Masonic Home Chapel, 902 Jacksonville Rd., Burlington. Interment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Bordentown.
