Obituary

Vaughn R. McNeil (Riley), 88, of Pennsauken, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2020 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Atmore, AL, she spent many years residing in Jersey City prior to moving to Pennsauken 20 years ago. Vaughn was a God fearing woman and had an unwavering desire to serve the lord. She was a longtime member of the Metropolitan AME Zion Church of Jersey City and in recent years New Westley Methodist Church of Camden. Vaughn retired as a homemaker, which she enjoyed and took pride in helping others. In her early years she was an avid bowler. She also enjoyed watching basketball and playing Pokeno with friends. Vaughn was a no fuss, sweet to the core woman who played a major role in raising her family. She will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by her parents: Bodie and Willie Mae Riley, her husband: Charles McNeil, longtime companions: David Crook and Dessie Smith, her son: Charles McNeil Jr, her daughters: Beverly McNeil Snipes, Regina McNeil, her brothers: Bodie Riley Jr, James Winston, LeRoy Riley and Rosevelt Riley, her sister: Hazel Miles. She is survived by her children: Olga McNeil, David Crook Jr., Denise Ware, son-in-law: Michael Snipes, grandchildren: Charles McNeil III, Damon Adams, Kier McNeil, Naimah McNeil, Shana McNeil, Brandon McNeil, Brimaly Snipes and a host of great-grandchildren, great- great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Friday, September 11 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Friends can visit with the family from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Pennsauken, NJ. Due to, the pandemic numbers inside the funeral home will be restricted and masks with social distancing must be observed.
