Thyra Houck of Jackson passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Centra State Medical Center in Freehold. Born and raised in Trenton, she had lived and raised her children in Bordentown prior to moving to Jackson. Thyra took early retirement from CoreStates Bank in Philadelphia (now Wells Fargo) where she was the Corporate Employee Benefits Manager. She then worked for the Bank of Mid-Jersey (now Bank of America) as Vice President of Human Resources. Retiring from Mercer Insurance Group in Pennington where she was Director of Human Resources. She was a member of Financial Women International, the Princeton chapter, where she held several positions as President and membership chair among others. She was a long time member of SHRM (Society for Human Resources Management) Princeton Chapter, where she served as President and membership chair among others.
She was a volunteer at Kimball Medical Center (now Monmouth South Campus) for eight years, five of those at the front desk. Thyra had been a member of several committees at her Westlake Community including the restaurant, recreation, travel and welcome committees, also served on the events committee for the singles club.
Thyra was predeceased by her parents, Julius and Edna Berish and is survived by her two daughters and son: Dawn Houck and her partner Richard Sargeant, Tammy Stoeckel and Thomas Houck and his wife Jackie, and her three grandchildren: Taylor Stoeckel and Kyle and Dana Houck.
Funeral Services will be held 11:30 am Tuesday, February 22 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Friends may spend time with the family Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm and again on Tuesday morning from 10:30 am until time of service. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown Township, NJ.
