Obituary

Thomas J. Kilgore, 83, of Allentown, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at his home. Born in New York, NY, he was a resident of Allentown for many years and spent much time at his shore home in Surf City. While Tom loved to travel anywhere and enjoyed sports of all kinds, he was best known for the priceless memories he made with his wife, "Mahleen" and for being "Uncle Tom" to his many nieces and nephews who loved and adored him. Tom took great pride in his service to our country, serving in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1993 after a lifetime career with Dow Jones. Tom was a member of both St. John's Church in Allentown and St. Thomas of Villa Nova in Surf City. He was a member and a Past Grand Knight for both the Knights of Columbus, Hightstown Council #6284 and St. John's Council #7333. Tom was also a member of St. John's 50+ Club and volunteered his time to his community in numerous ways throughout his life, including as an active volunteer for the Allentown Public Library and delivering Meals on Wheels to the people of the community.

Son of the late William and Barbara Kilgore, Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife of 39 years, Marleen F. Kilgore. He is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Eugene and Susan O'Connor; 15 nieces and nephews, and 34 great nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Saturday, November 23rd at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 1282 Yardville Road, Allentown. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Friday from 3-7 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 N. Main St, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
