Obituary

Thomas E. Grandell, 84 of Columbus, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Arcadia Nursing Center in Hamilton, NJ. Born in New Brunswick, he grew up in Highland Park, before moving to Westfield, Whitehouse Station and then to Columbus, NJ. An Eagle Scout and US Navy Veteran, Thomas graduated from Rutgers University and went on to earn his Master's degree from NYU. As a financial analyst, he worked for Chase Bank, Merck and most recently for Walter Kidde Corporation. As a Certified Financial Planner, Thomas was a member of the Financial Planning Association. He was also a member of the Westfield American Legion and St. Mary's Church in Bordentown. Thomas enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Son of the late Herman and Anna Grandell, he was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, James and Robert Grandell. Thomas is survived by his wife of 60 years, Angela Grandell; his children, Alice Dolan (Alan), Dave (Renee) Grandell and Laurie (Jim) Breiner; his grandchildren, Matthew (Nichole), Katlin, Michael, James, Dana (Jason), Ashley (Anthony), Ricky and Richie; his great grandchildren, Sophia, Stella, Brody and Blake; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Eichert and Jean and Richard Goodman as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Interment will follow in Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas' name to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
