Thomas W. Dwier, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at home with his family by his side after a long courageous battle with ALS. Born in Trenton, he was raised in Groveville, was a graduate of Hamilton High West and lived in the Bordentown/Chesterfield area most of his life. He worked as a Union Electrician with the IBEW Local 269 and later with SM Electric as a site safety manager.
Tom was devoted to fire service since the age of 18, when he joined the Groveville Fire Company. He served as a member as well as chief at Union Fire Company in Crosswicks, as Fire Marshal for Derby Fire Company and on the Boards of Fire Commissioners for both District 1 and District 2 of Bordentown Township. He was also instrumental in implementing the Burlington County North Chiefs and Tanker Task Force.
Tom also loved salt water fishing. By land he loved Island Beach State Park, Cape Hatteras and several other beaches. By sea, he enjoyed going on the Nimrod, Miss Cincher and many other boats over the years.
Predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Viola Dwier, his Sisters, Jane Dwier and Daryl Bitner, he is survived by his wife Tammy Mathews Dwier, his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas S. and Kerry Dwier of Gulf Breeze, FL, grandsons: Gavin and Dalton Dwier, Sister: Claire Dwier Zarr of Hamilton and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be 11 am Saturday, January 6 at the Mission Fire Company, 51 Groveville Rd, Trenton, NJ, located in Bordentown Township. Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 9 pm and again on Saturday morning from 10 am until time of service at the Fire Company. A Fireman's Service will be held Friday at 7 pm. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Tom's name to: The ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Rd, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002, or the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Foundation, 23 Main St, Suite D1, Holmdel, NJ 07733 or to your local Fire Department. Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Bordentown.
