Obituary

Stephen M. Hornyak, Sr., 79, of Plumsted Twp., passed away Saturday at his home. Born in Trenton, he resided there most of his life before moving to Plumsted 14 years ago. A WWII Navy Veteran, Mr. Hornyak retired from the Trenton Police Department as a Police Lieutenant where he also served as treasurer for the Trenton Police PBA. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing and in his younger years was an avid tennis player.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances; two children and their spouses, Carol and Howard Wedekind of Yardley, PA and Stephen, II and Donna Hornyak of Columbus; four grandchildren, Christian and Elizabeth Wedekind and Nicholas and Daniel Hornyak; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Sophie and Jacob Wolf of Jupiter, FL, Jennie Romanosky of Kingston, PA and Edna Mendygral of Lee Park, PA as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, 10am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. Friends may call Tuesday 6-9pm and Wednesday 9-10am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hungarian Reform Church Building Fund, 105 Grand St. Trenton, NJ 08611 or to the American Heart Association 2550 US Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
