Sophie J. Bush, 97, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in Macon, Georgia.  Born in Jersey City, NJ she grew up in Plainsboro, NJ where she met her husband, Ernest, from Princeton, NJ.  They moved their family to Allentown, NJ, her home of 60 years.  Sophie truly exemplified the gift of self-sacrifice as she devoted her life to her marriage, her four children and growing family.  A widow of 35 years, she was a woman of great strength and was the heart and soul of her family by whom she will be greatly missed.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernest Francis Bush her youngest daughter, Elizabeth Bush Nami; her granddaughter Valerie Jean Nami and her great grandson, Michael Thomas Nami.  She is survived by her children, Frank E. Bush and his wife Sue of Macon, GA; Phyllis J. Bush of Allentown, NJ and Michael A. Bush and his wife Janet of Bordentown, NJ.  She was further blessed by her beloved 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

An avid gardener, she was a member of St. John's Church, Hamilton Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, the Historical Society of Allentown, the Old Yellow Meeting House of Cream Ridge and the Actors Club of Allentown.  She was the past president of the Upper Freehold Elementary School PTA, the Rock and Mineral Club of Lower Bucks County and was the last president of the Antique Bottle Collectors Club of Burlington County.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Saturday, at St. John's Church, 1282 Yardville Rd., Allentown.  Interment will be held in the Parish Cemetery, beside her husband Ernest.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. 400 Morris Ave Ste 251, Denville, NJ 07834.  Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
