Obituary

Samuel T. Hendrickson III, age 77, of Cream Ridge, New Jersey passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025. He was the husband of Dorothy Hendrickson, with whom he shared 55 years of wedded joy.

Sam was born in Huntington, New York on February 25, 1948. He was the eldest son of the late Samuel T. Hendrickson Jr. and Ruth Elizabeth Hendrickson. In addition to his parents, Sam is predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy Hendrickson.

After graduating from Walt Whitman High School in 1966, Sam began a long and honorable career serving his country. He started his service at the McGuire Air Force Base as an Active Duty Sgt. Aircraft Mechanic, followed by time in the Air Force Reserves. Eventually, Sam served the Department of the Navy at an Air Propulsion Center in Trenton, NJ. After his honorable retirement from the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in 1997, he stayed active by working at Trap Rock Industries in Kingston as an NJ Certified Weighmaster.

Sam was a man with much to be proud of. Beyond his impressive career, he found lasting love with Dorothy Hendrickson. After marrying in 1969, their family grew when she gave him two beautiful sons, Sam IV and Adam. Sam maintained many hobbies and passions that he was eager to share with others. Above all, Sam shared a love of travel with his wife, a passion that took them on adventures across the world. But if their journey happened to be on a cruise ship, chances were you'd find him winning big in the casino rather than admiring the ocean waves.

Throughout his life, Sam also enjoyed Civil War reenactments with his son Adam, collecting and displaying model trains, or tending to his home. He spent his retirement years relaxing with his wife, enjoying the company of his dogs, celebrating birthdays and holidays with family, and talking to his son Sam about his next home improvement project.

Samuel is survived by his sons: Samuel Hendrickson IV and his wife Carla of Cream Ridge, NJ, Adam Hendrickson and his wife Jennifer of Cream Ridge, NJ; brother Harry Hendrickson and his wife Mary of Greenlawn, NY; sister-in-law Lorraine Grant of Cream Ridge, NJ; grandchildren: Emily, Casey, Finn and Freya; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday, March 15 from 11AM-1PM, at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 South Main St. Allentown, NJ. Interment will follow directly after at Emely's Hill Methodist Cemetery, Burlington Path Rd, Cream Ridge, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Sam's honor to the Parkinson's Foundation .
