Obituary

Roy A. Johnson, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at home with his family by his side. Born in Trenton, he grew up in New Egypt, attending Allentown High School ('67).  There, he met his high school sweetheart, Paulinea (Nurko), whom he married.  They resided in both New Egypt and Jacobstown, prior to moving to Coopersburg, PA four years ago.  After graduating, Roy entered the Air National Guard as a Weapons Technician, stationed at McGuire Air Force Base.  He attended Trenton State College and graduated in 1986 with a degree in Elementary Education.  He later earned his certification for Special Education at Georgian Court College.  He was a long time teacher in the North Hanover School District and finished his career with the Springfield Township School District.  Roy loved corvettes and was a member of the Allentown Area Corvette Club of Pennsylvania. When not home, he and his wife could be found traveling the country in his corvette, enjoying the south and the Smoky Mountains.  Roy was also a proud Mason and member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge #28 F & AM of Bordentown. He was an avid woodworker and gardener, spending time a lot of time in his woodshop and in his garden.  Earlier in his life, he enjoyed raising beagles and rabbit hunting.  Roy loved to joke around and living life his way.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by his parents Lester and Dorothy Johnson and his sister Faith, he is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Paulinea Johnson (Nurko), his daughters: Leslie Longyhore and her husband Daniel of Macungie, PA and Hope Johnson and Eric Mueller of Nazareth, PA. His sisters: JoAnn Reynolds and her husband James of Longs, SC and Donna Rath and her husband Gary of Floral City, FL. Five grandchildren: Christopher, Alexandra and Nathaniel Longyhore and Chace and Charlotte Mueller and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 11 am Monday, May 21 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St, Allentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Emley's Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Roy's name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 98018, Washington, DC 20090-8018.
