September 30, 1937 – February 15, 2023
Ronald Douglas Emley Sr. passed away at home on the farm on February 15th, 2023, after a hard fought 12-year battle with cancer. A retired dairy farmer, he lived on the family farm in New Egypt for 85 years. He was predeceased by his parents George and Oliva Emley; in 2014, by his wife of 56 years, Ethel Helen Emley, his nephew Douglas Hurley and great granddaughter Emma Verhoog.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy (Harry) Hurley of Fuquay-Varina, NC; three daughters: Teresa (Garry) Verhoog of St Labre, MB, Canada, Denise (Leif) Thomson of Cochranville, PA; and Sandra (Robert) Maholik of Round Hill, VA; two sons: Edgar (Lisa) Emley and Ronald Jr (Tara) all of New Egypt; 17 grandchildren: Jessica (James Cook) Matthew (Kari) Josh (Krissy) Micah (Crystal) Noah (Audrey) Luke (Billie) Seth and Jonah Verhoog, Eliza and Lauren Thomson, Renay (Luke Baer) Justin and Carolina Maholik, Melissa, Nicole and John Emley, Maggie Emley; 12 great-grandchildren: Abigail Cook, Xaris, Havilah, Keziah, Alethea, Isaac, Eli, Adeline, Andromeda, Nova, Carson, and Dustin Verhoog; three sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
He had been a member of many farm organizations including 4-H, Future Farmers of America, the Holstein Association of America and served on the Ocean County Agricultural Development Board working with farmland preservation. He was an avid baseball fan (Phillies) and outdoorsman.
A viewing will be held Monday February 20 th from 11-1pm with a service to begin at 1pm a the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. Interment will follow in Emley's Hill Cemetery.
