Obituary

Robin L. Pedersen, 61, of Cream Ridge, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at her home, with her family by her side. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, Robin earned her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University, where she was active in student government and graduated magna cum laude. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and was a Rhode Scholar semi-finalist. She continued her education at Rutgers Law school in Newark.

Robin worked as a lawyer in New Brunswick and later as a federal and state regulatory analyst for NJ transit and then as vice president in her husband's business. But her proudest work was raising and educating her kids, who she home-schooled, and managing the family "farmette". An extraordinary homemaker, Robin was a wonderful cook who loved to entertain family and friends at her home. She was an avid gardener with an encyclopedic knowledge of plants. She loved animals and she and her husband Charlie welcomed many additions to their farm over the years including dogs, cats, goats, chickens, horses and even a donkey.

As lover of the arts, Robin always had a project going, whether it be a painting or something knitted or crocheted. She was a prolific writer both professionally — with work published in law journals — and creatively.

A talented musician, Robin played both clarinet and piano and had a deep affinity for singing. She was part of her high school marching band and played for the Rutgers Wind Ensemble during her time at the university. Robin was a devoted member of the Allentown United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir.

Family was most important to Robin. She was beyond loyal to those close to her, taking time out of her life to visit her parents every week. She loved and cared about all people and was a dear friend to many.

Predeceased by her father, Christian George Pedersen, Jr, she is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Charles W. Sharman IV; her children, Rebecca Lynn Sharman and David Matthew Sharman; her mother, Jacquelyn Pedersen; brother and sister-in-law, Christian G. and Renee Pedersen; sister, Lori Ann Pedersen; nieces and nephews, Karlee and Mark Ferguson, Jesse, Cody and Maggie Pedersen; her aunt, Carol Ann Pedersen and cousin, Cindy Stopen.

A memorial service will be held at 10am at the United Methodist Church 23 Church St., Allentown, New Jersey. A gathering will begin at 9 am with the service at 10am followed by a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Nature Conservancy at https://www.nature.org/en-us/
