Roberta M. Larsen, 87, died peacefully in her home in Columbus, NJ on September 27, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Hopelawn, Woodbridge Township, NJ to Irma and Robert Gutwein in 1929, graduated from Woodbridge High School, and was employed by Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ as an administrative assistant in Sales and Marketing until retiring after 38 years of service.
Roberta married Robert J. Larsen in 1950 and they lived in Edison, NJ until 1987 when they moved to Homestead at Mansfield. They also spent many winters in Fort Pierce, Florida where they enjoyed making new friends and fishing. Roberta was an active member of her community, participating in KnitWits, knitting blankets and booties for newborns at the local hospital.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert of 59 years, brother Richard Gutwein and his wife June, brother-in-law Frank Thomas, and nephew Joe Gallos. Roberta leaves a sister, Evelyn Thomas, niece Jean Gutwein-Gallos, nephew Russell Gutwein and his son Hunter, nephew Robert Thomas and his wife Lata, sister-in-law Joan and her husband Joseph Kennedy, nephews Thomas and Tim Kennedy and his wife Tracy.
Roberta's never ending selflessness, courageous spirit and friendly smile will truly be missed by all her family, friends and caregivers alike.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1st at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown, NJ. Visiting hours will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Roberta's name to the Hospice of Moorestown VNA, 300 Harper Dr., Moorestown, NJ 08057.
