Robert A. Van Voorhis, Jr., 97, of Vineland, NJ passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019. Formerly of Hamilton, NJ, Robert was a US Navy veteran who served on a destroyer escort during WWII. It was then that he met his wife, Nancy, who was also serving in the Navy. Robert was a beloved vice principal at Lincoln Elementary School and later Roy W. Brown Middle School in Bergenfield, retiring after almost 40 years of employment. He was a kind man with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. A longtime member of Graceway Bible Church in Hamilton, he loved God, his country and his family.

Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Nancy F. Van Voorhis, his brother, Howard Van Voorhis and his sister, Connie Beavers, Robert is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert A. Van Voorhis, III of Conover, NC and Daniel and Dee Van Voorhis of Cream Ridge; a granddaughter, Heather Van Voorhis of Cream Ridge and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held 12pm on Friday, June 14 ^th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown, NJ 08501.   Interment will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
