March 5, 1943 – December 17, 2018
Robert "Bert" Rogers, 75, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Hamilton Township. Born in Trenton, he had lived in Bordentown until moving to Williamstown, NJ. He was a graduate of William MacFarland High School Class of 1961, was inducted into the school's baseball hall of fame. He later graduated from Lafayette College and its ROTC program.
Bert was a Vietnam Army Veteran having reached the rank of Second Lieutenant. He was Vice President for McCay Insurance Corporation of Bordentown and transferred to Williamstown to operate the Norman Thompson Agency. He was a member of the Williamstown Rotary and was fundamental along with his associates Vic Peters and Len Schwartz in founding the Sunrise Rotary Club. They were instrumental in establishing a handicapped playground in Williamstown. Bert was also a member of the VFW and the NJESGR. Bert was a very selfless individual and will be deeply missed.
Predeceased by his parents: George and Emma Rogers and his brother: Paul Rogers, he is survived by his adopted family Bruce Archer and Evelyn Popp of Chesterfield, their children: Jacob Archer and his son Owen of Bordentown and Dusty and Jason Floyd and their children Ruby, Axel and Scarlet of Chesterfield. Especially close niece and nephew: Julie and Peter Rogers as well as Brian and Sandra. Bert is also survived by many, many dear friends in Williamstown and Bordentown.
Funeral Services will be held 12 noon Thursday, December 20 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown Township. Friends may call Thursday morning from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home.
