Robert E. O'Hare, Sr. 81, of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he resided in Allentown for many years. A graduate of Rutgers University, Robert worked for Ford Motors for many years. After his retirement, he worked as the superintendent at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hamilton for 10 years.
Robert was active in his community. He served two terms as Mayor of Allentown and was a member of Borough Council for many years. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and was a dedicated member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church for over 45 years. Robert enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends at the Hamilton Hibernians and DiMattia's in Allentown.
Son of the late Owen and Margaret O'Hare, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Olive Doreen O'Hare, Robert is survived by his son, Robert E. O'Hare Jr. of Hamilton; his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Eileen O'Hare; his sister, Catherine Simon; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family in both the US and Ireland.
A viewing will be held Thursday, April 28 th from 6-8pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Friday, April 29 th at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Allentown, NJ. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's RC Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown, NJ 08501.
