Robert R. ""Rip"" Holt, age 86 of Leisuretown, Southampton, NJ, passed away Wednesday, June 18th at the Masonic Home of New Jersey. Born in Camden in 1921, he was a 73 year resident of Fairview Village.
He was the beloved husband of the late Alberta V Holt(Bundy); he is survived by daughters Dorothy Walker(the late Howard)and Elizabeth Weirauch(Raymond)and his six beloved grandchildren Andrea, Richard, Skip, Brian, Ashley and Beth. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and niece Doriann Herndon. Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his brother Clarence Holt and sister Doris Lyons.
""Rip"" was a 1941 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific and Phillipines. He worked as a locomotive engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad for forty years, retiring in 1981. He was an over 50 years member of the USS New Jersey Lodge # 62 F.&A.M. Mr. Holt and Mrs. Holt will be most remembered for their great generosity and jovial spirits.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday 11am at the Masonic Home Chapel, 907 Jacksonville Rd. Burlington. Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. Friends may call Tuesday from 10am until time of service, Masonic Service will be held at 10:30am. Arrangements under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Bordentown.
