Obituary

Robert Higgins, 77, of Plumsted Twp., NJ, passed away Sunday, December 21st at his home. Born in Staten Island, NY, Mr. Higgins moved to South Plainfield, NJ, and was the owner and operator of his own Trucking Company. He worked for several years at Curtis Wright Aeronautics and was also employed as an iron worker, during which time he assisted in the construction of the Brooklyn side of the Verrazano Bridge, and personally raised the American Flag on the bridge. Mr. Higgins was an extraordinary mechanic, loved camping, loved Harley's, had no fear, & had a wonderful sense of humor. His greatest joy was to be surrounded by his family and his friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Janet and Charles Gundacker, Robert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anna Higgins (nee Brown); his children, Linda Castro of Avenel, NJ, Robert Wilke and his wife Catherine of Toms River, NJ, Patricia Probasco and her husband Chris of New Egypt, NJ, Robin Higgins-Horn and her husband Charles of Skillman, NJ, and Robert Stephen Higgins and his wife Kathleen of Benton City, WA; a sister, Joan Beard; four brothers, Richard, Walter, Henry and Gary Gundacker; seven grandchildren, Holly Ann Lovett, Christopher, Kaitlyn and MacKayla Probasco, Russell and Justin Horn, and Erika and Robert Nicholas Higgins; four great grandchildren, Thomas and Noel Lovett, and Audrianna and Raegyn Chapin, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held 11am Monday December 29th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Cream Ridge Cemetery. Family & Friends may call Sunday from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at the funeral home
