Robert John Galayda, Jr. 52, of Florence, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his home. Born in New Brunswick, he resided in Old Bridge for many years and was a longtime resident of Florence. Bob was a mechanic for Jerith Manufacturing Co. Inc. in Philadelphia. A member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #28 F.&A.M. in Bordentown, he was an avid fisherman. Bob also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, country dancing and flying kites.
Son of the late Jean Marie Galayda; he is survived by his wife of 11 years, Sandi Plummer Galayda; his father, Robert J. Galayda, Sr. of Old Bridge, two daughters, Heather Galayda and her partner, Tim Robertson of Yardley, PA and Jennifer Voorhees and her husband Rob of Maple Shade; a sister Jean Marie Galayda Posik and her husband Mark of Spotswood; a brother, Steven Galayda and his wife Leeanne of Raritan; a niece and two nephews, Katelyn and Brian Posik and Tyler Galayda; two grandchildren, Samantha and Sydney Voorhees and his mother-in-law, Alice Plummer.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 11th from 6-9pm at the Groveville United Methodist Church, 447 Church St. Groveville. A Masonic Service will begin at 7pm. Funeral service will be held 11am on Wednesday, March 12th at the Church. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ, 195 Little Albany St., New Brunswick, NJ 08903-2681, Attn: Lee Ann.
