Robert B. Carslake, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Marcella Center in Burlington Township. Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Columbus most of his life. He was a graduate of Bordentown High School, was a WWII Army Veteran and was retired from the N.J. State Department of Transportation, after 33 years, having been a heavy equipment operator and an area Foreman at the Bordentown Yard.
Bob was a 57 year member of Mt. Moriah Lodge # 28 F&AM of Bordentown as well as the Valley of Central Jersey A.A.S.R. and Crescent Temple, AAONMS. He also had been a long-time member of the Short Horn Buck Club and the Mercer County Anglers Association and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Bordentown. He enjoyed hunting as well as fishing along the Jersey shore, Cape Hatteras, Cape Cod and various other locations.
Predeceased by his parents, William C. Carslake, Sr. and Helen Nixon Carslake, his brother William C. Jr. and sister, Ruth Ridgeway, he is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joan (Dougherty). Carslake; his two brothers, Irving C. Carslake and his wife, Gertrude of Sabinsville, PA and Joseph R. Carslake and his wife, Nancy of East Norrriton, PA.; nieces and nephews, with special mention of niece, Brenda I. Carslake, as well as great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 20th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown. Interment will follow in the NJ Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening from 7 to 9 pm and again Tuesday morning 9 am until time of service at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be at 8 pm Monday evening.
