Robert Bailey, 80, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 at home with his loving family by his side. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he had resided in Mansfield Township for the last 35 years. He and his wife Karen traveled the world and enjoyed riding horseback, rafting, kayaking, classical music and sports. They brought color into each other's lives. However with his passing, that has faded. They were blessed to have found true love.
Robert was very active in his professional and personal life. He received a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Lehigh University and had over thirty years of experience as a manager of research, quality assurance and production in the metals related industry. He had worked for companies such as United States Pipe and Foundry of Burlington, Alloy Steel Castings of Southampton, PA and Earle M. Jorgensen of Langhorne, PA to name a few.
He also worked as a U.S. Census Enumerator where he identified living units and interviewed people to verify Census Quality Control. He was a Certified Financial Management Counselor in the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Program. He was also a member of the Bordentown Pastoral Counseling Advisory Committee, a part of the NJ Youth Advocate Program, and a Tutor and member of the Educational Advisory Board Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. On a more personal note, he was a long time member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where he held Trustee positions as secretary, treasurer, vice-president and president. He was also a member of the Administrative Council, Pastor/Parish Relations, Lay Leader, Financial Auditor and Chairman of the Finance Committee.
Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Anna Bailey, he is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Karen J. Bailey (nee Morrell); his daughter, Andrea Bailey Storrs and her husband Daniel of Southwick, MA; his three sons and daughters-in-law: Troy and Nancy D'Imperio, Mark and Lisa D'Imperio, all of Columbus; David and Mirela Bailey of Enfield, CT; and nine grandchildren: Allyson Santos, Alexis, Deanna, Cory,Victoria D'Imperio, Nicholas Campagna, Julia and Jacob Storrs, and Razvan Stoien.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday evening October 29th from 5 to 8 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ and again on Friday morning from 10 until 11 am at Wesley United Methodist Church, 24573 E. Main St, Columbus, NJ. Funeral Services will be 11 am Friday at the Church. Interment will follow in Dividing Creek Cemetery.
