Obituary

Rita Mae Alt, 98, of Windsor, NJ, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Hamilton Continuing Care Center. Born in Syracuse, NY, she was a lifetime resident of Windsor. Rita was a former member and past president of the Windsor PTA and 60+ year member of the Windsor United Methodist Church. Rita loved her church and was extremely active in her church community. She was a talented musician and poet and would make her daughter's clothes and feed the family from her garden. A devoted wife and mother, Rita loved children and served as a nanny for many years.

Daughter of the late George and Jessie Rice Nash, she was predeceased by her husband, George J. Alt; her son, Thomas R. Alt; her son-in-law, Leonard Rapping and her brothers, Robert Nash and Walter, Charles and Arthur Eaton. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Anne C. and Herb Spair of Robbinsville and Judith Rapping of Albuquerque, NM; her grandchildren, David Spair, Cathy Beans, Eric Wilson, Arianna Wilson and Jennifer Alt; her great grandchildren, Benjamin, Joshua, Fred, Max, Alex, Sophie, Caya and Derien as well as many nieces and nephews. Rita was a direct descendent of Francis Cooke and Richard Warren who came to the US on the Mayflower.

Funeral service will be held 11am on Thursday, October 6th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown. Friends may call 10am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
