Richard Ridgway Wright, age 96, of Crosswicks, NJ passed away peacefully on October 16, 2009 at Hamilton Continuing Care Center, Hamilton, NJ. He was born at Merino Hill Farm near Allentown. Dick graduated from Allentown High School, the Peddie School, and Princeton University. He worked for the RCA Corporation in Camden, Princeton, and Hightstown prior to his retirement. Dick also served on the Chesterfield Township School Board, the Crosswicks Water Company Board, and was a member of the Chesterfield Historical Society and the Crosswicks Fire Company. His lifelong love of the land was expressed through projects at the family farm, as well as extensive domestic travel with his late wife. His family and friends will miss Dick's strong presence and devotion.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret, two sisters (Mary S. Wright and Elizabeth Wright Meirs), and a granddaughter, Sally George. Son of the late Henry H. Wright and Mary S. Ridgway, he is survived by son Richard S. Wright and his wife Judith of Crosswicks, NJ, daughter Anne Wright and her fiancé Howard Berliant of Milwaukee, WI, three granddaughters; Susan W. Taylor, Ellen W. Maher and Amy J. Wright, and six great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 22, 11:30AM-12:30PM at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown, NJ, prior to a service at the Crosswicks Cemetery. The family expresses its appreciation to the staff at Hamilton Continuing Care Center for their care and concern for Dick's well being.
