Richard A. Snyder, 77, of Barnegat, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Trenton, he grew up in Allentown, NJ and was a graduate of Allentown High School. After high school, Rick enlisted in the service, serving in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. A New Jersey State Trooper, Rick and his wife Carolyn raised their family in Yardville where they resided for 32 years. Following his retirement from the NJ State Police, Rick worked for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for several years.

A longtime member of St. Mary’s Parish in Barnegat, Rick was a talented woodworker. He liked golfing and fishing and spending his retirement by the water at his home in Barnegat. Some of his favorite times were spent on family vacations to Hilton Head and watching his grandchildren grow.

Son of the late Charles and Mary Snyder he was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Carolyn R. Snyder and by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Daniel and Kathy Snyder and Timothy Snyder. Rick is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Albert Eckert; his son, Brian Snyder, Sr.; his grandsons, Brian Jr. and Brady and their mother, Carey. Rick is also survived by his siblings, Mark and Angela Snyder, Mary Jo and Steve Danitz, and Donna and Daniel Shelton as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30am on Monday, June 22nd at St. Mary of the Pines, 100 Bishop Ln, Manahawkin, NJ. Interment with military honors will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to the Sunshine Foundation, 101 Lakeside Park, Southampton, PA 18966 (www.sunshinefoundation.org) a charity that Rick was active with for many years.

Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
