Richard John Saams, age 83, departed this life on May 29th to be with his love, the late Catherine Dettra Saams. He leaves behind to mourn his passing, but also to celebrate his life, his daughters, Carla Saams of Bordentown, Dawn Maltba and her husband, Michael of Valdese, NC, Sharon Fillinger and her partner Marty Galullo of Crosswicks and his son, John Saams and wife, Joy of Gambrills, MD. The extended Saams family, all of whom made him so proud, include his grandchildren, Brian and Anya Tomko, Michael Tomko, Richard and Kara Tomko, John and Jenne Hardesky and their children, Sheri and Richard Nutt, Brad Hardesky, Kelly Fillinger, Donald Fillinger, Daniel Fillinger, Jack Saams, James Saams, and Julia Saams and his great-grandchildren, Katria, Alex, Lilianna, Isabel and Isla Tomko; Drew, Wesley, Lauren, Parc, Karson, Jeffery and Cameron Hardesky, Nicholas, Brittany and Gabrielle Nutt. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Richard Engel and their family of Hamilton.
Richard, born in Trenton, was a resident of Bordentown for the past 56 years and was the owner/operator of R. J. Saams Plumbing & Heating, operating locally for many years prior to his retirement. He was a past member of Mission Fire Company and the Bordentown Elks.
