Richard K. Cass Sr, aged 66, lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, January 16, 2014. Born on May 17, 1947 in Huntington, Long Island; Richie moved to the Hightstown/ East Windsor area in NJ as a young child where he lived for almost 60 years eventually seeking warmer pastures and recently moving to Denver, North Carolina. Before relocating to North Carolina, Richie was a member of the Rose of Sharon Lutheran Church in Wrightstown, NJ.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Daciek Stout Cass of Denver, NC, his son Richard K. Cass Jr. of Cream Ridge, NJ, his daughter Bobbi Jo Cass of Charlotte, NC and his step-son Shaun Stout of New Egypt, NJ. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christopher, Kristina, Lyle, Douglas (DJ), Tyler and Cheyenne, his sister and brother-in-law Cheryl and Larry Sterling of Ocala, FL , his sister and brother-in-law Deborah and John Procassini of Hightstown, NJ as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joan Orndorff Cass and Robert William Cass and younger brother Johnathon.
Richie was extremely proud of his military service having served his country with the Navy on the USS Guam. He also had a deep passion for stock car racing where he primarily raced at East Windsor Speedway, Bridgeport Speedway and most recently at New Egypt Speedway; where he had many feature wins running his famous number 75C. He also loved being an Owner/ Operator for Richard Cass Trucking and Racing and loved spending weekends on the water on his many various boats.
Viewing for friends and family will be held at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown on Tuesday, January 21st from 6 – 9 pm and again Wednesday, January 22nd from 1 - 3 and 5 – 8 pm followed by a Service at 8pm where friends and family are welcome to share their fond memories of Richie. A military burial will be held at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ on Friday January 24, 2014.
