Raymond L. "Ray Ray" deBerlhe, 44, of Cream Ridge, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, after a yearlong battle with Esophageal Cancer. Born in Trenton on June 28, 1969, Ray spent his entire life in Cream Ridge. He was a wonderful, loving son and brother who will be greatly missed. Ray attended New Egypt schools and graduated from Allentown High School/Oakwood School in Tinton Falls. He worked for a few years at the Sears Outlet in Hamilton Square and Allied Security Services. He later worked for 11 years at Town & Country Linen in Lakewood and most recently at the Jackson Outlet Mall for 11 years.
Ray loved listening to classic country music, doing word puzzles, playing hand held poker games and watching old movies and TV shows; his favorite being "A Christmas Story". His hobby was building model cars of which he had a very large collection. Every Saturday night Ray could be found attending Stock Car races at the New Egypt Speedway, watching his favorite driver, his cousin, "Wild Bill Liedtka" #310, win races.
Ray was predeceased by his father, Louis Raymond deBerlhe; his maternal grandparents, Ernest H. and Mary (Smith) Robbins Sr.; his aunts, Marion Robbins , Harriet (deBerlhe) Toth, Dorothy (Smith) Chamberlain and Anna (Smith) DeBow; his uncles, Alfred Robbins, Samuel, Walter and Charles Smith and his paternal grandparents, Louis L. and Muriel (Cobanks) deBerlhe. He is survived by his loving mother, Shirley; his brother, Michael David deBerlhe; uncle, Ernest H. Robbins, Jr. and aunt and uncle, Melvin and Bertie (Smith) Thompson, all of Cream Ridge; his aunt, Delores (Oakerson) Smith of Philadelphia, TN; cousins, James and his wife, Kaleana and their children, Kala and Hope Robbins of Port Charlotte, Fl, and cousins, Susan, Bill, Karen and Sandy Liedtka, Richard, Hal and Rusty Chamberlain, Barbara (Thompson) Sollis, Beverly Thomspson, Cheryl Poppe, Rob and David DeBow and many other cousins, friends and neighbors.
Calling hours will be held from 7-9pm on Tuesday, May 13 th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. A service will begin at 9pm. Cremation will be private and the interment will be in the Allentown Methodist Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ray's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Deborah Hospital Foundation, 20 Pine Mill Rd, Browns Mills, NJ 08015 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
