Obituary

Ralph L. Stone, 86, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Bordentown, he was a resident of the City all of his life.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and participated in the Pacific Theatre of Operations on the USS Casa Grande and the USS Tutuila. He was appointed County Veterans Service Affairs and Interment Officer by the Burlington County Board of Freeholders in 1959 and retired in 1992.

Ralph's involvement with the Veterans Organizations led him to be a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 26 of Bordentown, Past County Commander of Burlington County, represented the Burlington County American Legion on the Department Level of New Jersey and served as the State Commander of the State of New Jersey. He was very active with the American Legion Rehabilitation Committee and served as its County Officer and was Chairman for the National Rehabilitation Commission of the American Legion at its National Headquarters in Indiana, and was a past Department Executive Committeeman of NJ.

He was a member of Chef De Gare of Voiture 500 of the 40 & 8 Society, the VFW, a past vice president and life member of the Hope Hose Humane Company #1 of Bordentown and was also a member of the Jersey Devils Senior Drum and Bugle Corps.

Son of the late Samuel and Ethel Stone and brother of the late Herbert Stone, he is survived by his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Miriam Stone (nee Rogers), his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Larry Denney of Bordentown, two sisters-in law; Jean Stone of Bordentown and Gladys Lins of Wrightstown, a brother-in-law, Donald Rogers and his wife Joan of Cape May and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 11 am Thursday, August 29, at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown Township. Friends may call Wednesday evening 7 to 9 pm and again Thursday morning 10 am until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hose Humane Company #1, 150 West Burlington St, Bordentown, NJ 08505 or to the American Legion Post 26 Baseball Team, PO Box 548, Bordentown, NJ 08505
