Obituary

Philip J. Heitzenroeder Jr., 78, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Long Branch, NJ, he had been a resident of the Bordentown area for the last 52 years. He graduated from NJIT and worked for the Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory. He had received many awards including the 2013 Fusion Technology Award, Distinguished Engineering Fellow Award and The Kaul Foundation Prize for Excellence in Plasma Physics Research and Technology Development.

Philip was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Bordentown and served in many positions. His interests were photography, traveling, camping, finding humor in everything by making people laugh and always looking to save a penny with an open box special. His pride was his family, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed his pets. He will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by his parents Philip and Lillian Heitzenroeder and his sister, Carol Davis, he is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Ruth E. Heitzenroeder. His two sons and daughters-in-law; Brian and Nancy Heitzenroeder of Lambertville and John and Jennifer Heitzenroeder of Bordentown. His grandchildren; John and Brady Heitzenroeder, brother-in-law; Ivan Davis of Manchester and nieces; Joann Carter and Cheryl Atkinson.

Funeral Services will be 11 am Saturday, January 3 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm and again on Saturday morning from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Deborah Hospital Foundation, 212 Trenton Rd, Browns Mills, NJ 08015 or to the First Baptist Church of Bordentown, 127 Prince St, Bordentown, NJ 08505.
