Obituary

Paul Edward Murphy, 75, of Browns Mills, passed away Tuesday, July 14th at Samaritan Hospice, Mount Holly. Born in Potsdam, NY, Mr. Murphy was a US Air Force Serviceman during the Korean Conflict. In 1978 he retired from the military and went on to manage Fort Dix Golf Course from which he retired in 1999. His assistance with the redesign of the course resulted in an award winning golf course. Mr. Murphy was extremely athletic and enjoyed all types of sports. Early in his service career, he played under Coach Dean Smith with the Air Force Basketball team. As a musician, he played the trumpet with his band. Mr. Murphy also had the opportunity to travel and enjoyed many destinations all around the world.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lydwina T. Murphy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Jan Murphy of Avenel and Dean and Susan Murphy of Cream Ridge; a sister and brother-in-law, Marjory and Merle Faulkner of New Smyrna Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Sara, Christopher, Patricia, Megan, Paul, Dean and Sean Murphy and a great grandchild, Hadyn Murphy Spires.

A visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Saturday July 18th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St. Allentown. Memorial service will immediately follow. Inurnment will take place 2pm on Tuesday, July 21st at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave. White Plains, NY 10605
