Paul Richard Gavin, 92, of Allentown, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Philadelphia, Richard was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean war. After his discharge from the service, Richard worked for H&H Distributing, the family business. Later, he owned and operated Convenient Corner in Phillipsburg, NJ for over 30 years.

He was a member of Jersey Hose Volunteer Fire Co. and the FLEAS Club for many years. An avid sports fan, he loved to watch baseball, college football and root for the Philadelphia Eagles. He and his wife, Madeline, also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. Richard had a great sense of humor and was a kindhearted and appreciative man.

Son of the late Richard and Bessie Gavin, he was predeceased by his son, Richard Gavin, stepdaughter, Renée Redmond Carroll, son-in-law, Mark Stout, sister, Florence Hammerstone, and stepbrother, Robert Hughes. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Madeline Gavin, two daughters and son-in-law, Gail Gavin-Stout and Pamela and Chuck Farina; daughter-in-law, Pamela Valkos; granddaughters, Kelsey and Madeline Carroll; nephew, Kevin Hammerstone and his wife, Betty Tersigni-Hammerstone; as well as many close friends.

Funeral service will be held 12pm on Wednesday, December 21 ^st at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Friends may call from 11am until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
