Obituary

Patrick Joseph "Joe" Flatley 86, of Cream Ridge, NJ. passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021. Born in 1934 in Long Branch, NJ to Irish parents, Joe's family moved back to Ireland when he was very young and settled on a small farm in Castletara, County Cavan.

Educated in Ireland, Joe returned to the United States in 1957, followed shortly thereafter by his entire family. Upon completion of a non-combat tour of duty in the US Army, he returned to the Boston area where he met the most important person in his life, his wife Alice. Married in 1961, they eventually settled in Hightstown, NJ where they raised their family.

Joe worked at Princeton University for 38 years, starting in the Heating and Air-Conditioning Department; eventually becoming manager of H.V.A.C trades. He retired on January 1, 2000 and he and his wife Alice moved to Cream Ridge where he spent the remainder of his retirement years. Joe enjoyed fishing and gardening and spending many enjoyable years on Long Beach Island. He enjoyed visiting with his grandkids and watching them grow up.

Predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Mary Rooney Flatley, his brother, Peter and his sister, Helen Piscatelli; Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice; his sons, Joseph of Philadelphia, Rob and his wife Tracy of Lebanon Township, NJ, and Jeff and his wife Alaina of Lansdale, PA; his daughter, Jen Roth and her husband Rob of Allentown, NJ; his grandchildren: Ryan, Brenna, Katie, Jack, Owen, Patrick, Sean, Matthew, Jolee and Bryson: his sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine and Dave Paul of Cream Ridge, Marilyn Yarborough of Cranbury, Anne and Jimmy Sinkoskie of Cream Ridge, and Brigid Cornell of Monroe; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael of East Windsor, Jimmy and Valerie of Penn Lake, PA, Tommy and Sherry of Long Branch and Sean of East Windsor as well as many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held Thursday, February 4th from 4-6:30pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Friday at St. John's Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe's name to Plumsted PBA, Plumsted First Aid Squad or another organization of your choice.
