Obituary

On Saturday, February 23, 2020 Pamela Matthews age 61 died unexpectedly at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.

Born in Johnstown, PA; she was the youngest of six children. Pam graduated from South Brunswick High School with the class of 1977 and was described as "a dedicated seamstress, pint sized, very friendly with a contagious laugh." A few years later these traits attracted the attention of Richard Matthews and in 1982 they married.

Pam loved knitting blankets and sewing doll clothes, costumes, and home decorations for her many family members and friends. She always treasured the reactions they had when finding out it was made my her.

Pam always looked forward to the many shared adventures she had with her family, roasting marshmallows by the lake, strolling the Hershey Fall Meet, watching the NJ Balloon Festival, singing "Build Me Up Buttercup" at karaoke nights, enjoying the attractions at Disney World, and traveling outside of NJ to spend quality time with relatives.

Pam made little of impediments, and she overcame any obstacles with a cheerful disposition. She had the strength to remain positive in outlook. Her kindness and enjoyment of family gatherings and ability to laugh fully will be well remembered.

She is preceded in death by her mother Lucy Johns and her sister Gloria DiBiase.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Matthews of East Brunswick; daughter, Michele Matthews of New Providence, NJ; son, Jason Matthews and his wife, Becca McCroskey of Manville, NJ; her in-laws, Jane Matthews of Darian CT, Mary Matthews of Fairbanks, AK, Michael Matthews and Pam Smith of Sea Girt NJ, Edward and Patricia Matthews of Jamesburg NJ, William Matthews and Michael DeFalco of Piscataway NJ, Patrick and Tina Matthews of Jackson NJ; nieces, Raven Matthews, Kiowa Kosche, Ellen Ourednik, Nora Matthews, Amanda Matthews and nephews, Nathaniel Matthews, Ryan Matthews, and Michael DiBiase.

A viewing will be held on Sunday from 2-4pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St. Allentown, NJ. Interment will be private.
