Obituary

Olive Corley, née Daley, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016 at the age of 86. Born on Staten Island on Aug. 15, 1929, Olive raised eight children there with her loving husband Bill. She and Bill later moved to Colts Neck and Lincroft, NJ. After Bill's death in 2013, Olive spent her final years with her son Timothy and daughter-in-law Kellie and their family in Fredericksburg. Olive's gift of gab meant she never met a stranger. As the matriarch of a large Irish Catholic family, Olive's homes bustled with activity. The laughter of family and friends, barking dogs and the tinkling of a piano provided the soundtrack to her life. Her musical talent astounded anyone fortunate enough to find themselves in a room with Olive and a piano. Her gift was given by God. She needed only to hear a song once and her hands would glide across the keys, reproducing the piece bar by bar. She delighted in sewing in her early years, crocheting and knitting in more recent years or a morning spent taking laps across the swimming pool. Her greatest joy, however, was her expansive family.

Predeceased by her husband; her father, Daniel Daley and her mother Juanita Daley,
she is survived by her children and their spouses, Mary Ann Colatuno of Apex, NC; John Corley and his wife, Joanne, of Holmdel, NJ; Juanita Smith and her husband, Daniel, of Portland, ME; Daniel Corley and his wife, Eileen, of Concord, NH; Thomas Corley and his wife, Denise, of Freehold, NJ; Timothy Corley and his wife, Kellie, of Fredericksburg, VA; Joseph Corley and his wife, Mara, of Ridgefield, CT and Kimberly Rentner and her husband, Michael, of Allentown, NJ. Olive is also survived by 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Olive was a devoted Catholic and a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Church in Colts Neck, St. Leo's Church in Lincroft and St. Mary's Church in Fredericksburg, VA.

A visitation will be held 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, January 28th at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 so. Main St., Allentown, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am on Friday, January 29th at St. John the Baptist Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd. Allentown, NJ. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to Martha Washington Hospice Unit in Fredricksburg VA, the National MS Society or the Lupus Foundation of America.
