"We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch - we are going back from whence we came."
- John F. Kennedy
Nancy L. VanArsdale Clegg, age 64, of Sebastian, FL, drifted away quietly on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 3:40 p.m. in Sebastian River Medical Center after a valiant battle against lung disease.
Daughter of Clifford and Myrtle VanArsdale, Nancy grew up in Lakeside, NJ, with her sister and two brothers. She adored the ocean, spending much of her childhood fishing at Island Beach State Park, NJ, and developed a fondness for kayaking on the Indian River in Florida later in life. She also enjoyed reading, shopping, and admiring the plentiful species of birds that thrive in Florida.
Nancy had a beautiful soul, illuminating the lives of those around her. Her vibrant light continues to burn bright in the people she loved. A natural caregiver, Nancy nurtured young minds at the local daycare where she worked and never hesitated to put her life on hold when her family needed her the most.
Beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend, Nancy is survived by her husband Bill; sons Patrick and Donald; daughters Hildi and Barbara; brother Bobby; six grandchildren; four nieces; one nephew; and several dear friends.
