Morgan Holman, 79, of New York City. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved friend and family member, Morgan Holman, born 28 June 1938. He died 23 October 2017 in New York City after a brief illness.
The son of Herman Morgan Holman and Matilda Holsten, he grew up in Dutch Neck, New Jersey and worked in the design and entertainment industries, most notably at Paramount for the film versions of On a clear Day and Paint your Wagon; and the Broadway original productions of Gigi and Coco, among others written mostly by his then father-in-law, Alan Jay Lerner. Later, he spent many years at St. Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue as Verger under Rector John Andrew.
Survivors include dear friend, Hope Hall Tate; life companion, Michael Reid; sister, Sheila Holman Benoit; daughters Jenny Alan Miller and Susannah Olch and grandchildren Teddy and Eliza Miller.
Services will be held on Friday, October 27 at 3:00 pm in St Thomas Church Chapel, Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts in his memory to Bide-a-Wee Home Association; New Jersey Schnauzer Rescue; Royal Oak; St. Jude's Hospital or Center for Advancement of Palliative Care or the charity of one's choice.
