Michael G. Sopronyi, 66, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011, after a lengthy illness, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia. Born in Trenton, he had lived in Bordentown, NJ for over 30 years. He retired from the Mercer County Department of Corrections and had worked for Merrill Lynch in Plainsboro. Michael was a founding member of the Mercer County FOP Lodge #96 and was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Bordentown.
Son of the late George and Alice Sopronyi and identical twin brother of the late John T. Sopronyi, he is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Bernadette Sopronyi (nee Kokas); his daughter, Caitlin Sopronyi of Florence; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph S. and Barbara Sopronyi of Florence and Peter A. and Deborah Sopronyi of Jackson Twp.; a niece Alison and three nephews Joseph, Peter and John.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday, January 25 at St. Mary's Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday evening 6 to 8 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown.
