Michael H. Pilla, age 91, of Cream Ridge, passed away Sunday May 18th at his home. Born in Trenton, he was a longtime Cream Ridge area resident. A WWII Army veteran, he received an honorary certificate from the City of Antwerp, Belgium, commemorating his war effort. Mr. Pilla was an assembler for General Electric in Trenton for many years and was also a mechanic at Pilla Garage in Lawrenceville, which he ran with his family. He was a member of the American Legion in New Egypt, the Lawrenceville Fire Company and loved to tinker in his garage.
Son of the late Joseph and Candida Pilla, he was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, Pat and Vincent and four sisters, Josephine, Mary Candida and Nicole. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth I. Pilla (nee Bowker); two daughters and a son-in-law, Theresa and Jeffery Gross of Nashport, OH and Kathleen A. Pilla of Wrightstown; a grandson, Michael Gross and his wife Britni of Nashport, OH; a brother and sister-in-law, Nicholas and Janie Pilla of Seattle, WA; a sister, Phyllis McBride of Columbus and his nieces and nephews, Raymond Johnson, Jr., Candida Pilla, Mark Pilla and Linda Bryden.
A Memorial Mass followed by interment in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery will by held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
