Michael A. Matthews , 56, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 20, 2020. Born in Trenton, he was raised in Robbinsville, prior to moving to North Hanover Township in 1994. He attended Notre Dame High School and graduated top of his class from Mercer County Vocational Technical School. Michael was an electrician and worked for the IBEW #269 Union of Trenton. He enjoyed hunting, as president of the Robbinsville Rod and Gun Club, farming and livestock, his horses, Rebel and Diesel, motorcycles and trucks, the Philadelphia Flyers, and coaching his son in hockey and his grandson in t-ball.  Michael loved to laugh and especially loved to make others laugh.  He was a gentle giant whose generosity was endless.  He would give you the shirt off his back and make sure it was clean before he'd give it to you.  He will be deeply missed.

Predeceased by his father, Joseph Robert "Bob" Matthews, he is survived by his mother, Nancy Matthews (Pilato), his children: Harry and Kelly Matthews, his honorary daughters: Angela and Nicole Ferrelli, his brother: David Matthews, his sister and brother-in-law: Mary Jo and Michael Haluska, 2 grandchildren: Forrest and Cullen and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends of the family.

A prayer service will be held 12:30 pm Saturday, June 27 with limited capacity at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ . Friends may call from 9 am until time of service. Face masks with social distancing must be observed for viewings and services. Interment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nemours Fund for Children's health and/or ABATE of the Garden State.
