Obituary

Michael J. Lynch, 83, of Ft. Myers, FL, passed peacefully on July 13, 2010 at his daughter Denise's home in Cream Ridge, N.J. surrounded by members of his family. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Adele. ""Irish Mike"" was born in Hell's Kitchen, N.Y.C. on March 23, 1927. His first job was as an usher in Radio City Music Hall. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of Operation. He had a 52 year career, beginning as a mechanic for William J. McCormack in 1947 and retiring in 1999 as Vice President of McCormack Aggregates.
He was a native New Yorker, moving to Freehold, NJ in 1969 and then to West Windsor in 1975, where he resided until retiring and moving to the west coast of Florida in 1996. He was an accomplished equestrian and had a horse farm in Plainsboro, NJ with his friend, Bob Kelly. His passions in life included his family, his work, sailing and later on golf (which he loved to hate). He was a loyal and devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. ""Irish Mike"" was known by many as the ""go to"" guy, the rock, the shoulder to lean on.

He was predeceased by his wife, Adele, who passed in 1993; his parents, Michael and Mary Lynch and his brother Edward Lynch. Michael is survived by his six children; Michael J. Lynch III and his wife Stephanie, Denise Hammerstone and her husband Mike, Brian E. Lynch and his wife Linda, Donald J. Lynch and his wife, Cathy, Kate Simon and her husband Julius, Timothy C. Lynch and his wife, Cindy; fourteen grandchildren, Michael Z. Hammerstone, Heather Rossi, Sarah, Olivia, Alexandria and Michael J. Lynch IV, Christopher and Matthew Lynch, Kara Steele, Amanda Lynch, Rebekah McKay, Josiah and Jared Simon and Jimmy Lynch; seven great grandchildren, Enzo, Zachary, Brandon, Kelsey, Tristan, Michael and Soren; sisters, Mary, Ann, Peggy and Joan; many nieces, nephews, his companion of recent years, Fran Hamburger, and numerous lifelong friends including his best friend Bob Kelly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30am Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Church of the Assumption, 76 Evergreen Road in New Egypt. Interment will be private. Friends may call Friday from 2-4pm and 6-9pm and again Saturday, 9-10am at Peppler Funeral Home 114 So. Main St. Allentown.
